David Peter Howe

Born in Leicester on the 1st March 1982, David took his first laps on a speedway track at Milton Keynes' Elfield Park raceway in 1991 at the age of nine years old.

Six years later after developing his skills he signed for Peterborough in the Amateur League, David proved to be a high scorer for the Thundercats and soon moved his way up to the top averaged rider in the team.

In the same year he played a key role in the team lifting the League title, his efforts had earned him a call up to the leagues riders championship where he finished in a respectable third place.

His achievements in the '97 season had attracted the management of the senior side and in 1998 he was offered a place in their Premier League side. David had continued on his high points scoring from the previous year to average just under eight points per meeting for the whole of the '98 season. Peterborough went on to lift the league title that year which gave David a second winners medal in as many years.

David remained with the Panthers for the '99 season and the club took the decision to move up the top tier in British Speedway, this season turned out to be his best and he went on to claim a third League Championship as well as a Knockout Cup and Craven Shield.

Personal success came for David in the 2000 season, at Edinburgh's Armdale track he lifted the British U-21 Championship and secured a place in the British Final for the first time.

A second Knockout Cup came for David in the '01 season with Peterborough and in the 2002 season he moved to Wolverhampton in order to gain experience on smaller tracks. With him he took the 'golden touch' and Wolves went on to win the Elite League.

David was also called up to the Great Britain Under-21 Team to face Sweden at Monmore Green in 2003, he led the team to a 24 point win and David led the team with a superb 15 point maximum. In good form, David claimed the prestigious Ladbroke Olympique at the end of the '04 season.

A move to Oxford came in 2006, despite the team finishing towards the bottom of the table, he continued on his consistent scoring form and ended the season with an average of 6.27. Wolves re-called David for the 2007 season and it proved to be is best yet in his league career, his average went up to 7.81 for the season. In the same year a second place in the British Championship earned him a place in the British Grand Prix as wildcard where he went on to score 4 points.

In 2009, David opted to drop down to the Premier League with Scunthorpe and instantly became their number one and crowd favourite, his affection for the Scorpions led him to sign for a second year at the Eddie Wright Raceway.

David completed the season with a 8.38 for the Scorpions and he finished second in the Premier League riders Championship in 2010, towards the end of the season the management at Scunthorpe announced their delight of his performances and confirmed that he would spent a third season with them but this time David was awarded the club captaincy.

2011, David held an average of just under eight points for the Scorpions during the Premier League season and his performances had attracted Elite League King's Lynn who signed him for the remaining few month of the season as a doubling-up rider.

On the individual stage, David qualified for the World Longtrack Grand Prix Series.
